Title I

Our Goal:
To improve the teaching and learning of children in high-poverty schools and continue the focus on parental involvement.
In order to accomplish this goal, Title I supports new roles for school districts, states, and the federal government. Schools will decide themselves on how to allocate Title I resources. Districts will play a new critical role through providing consulation, coordination, and highly qualified professional development.

An early literacy training program providing early childhood staff professional development in:

  • Pre Writing

Family Literacy
(Family Resource Activity Model for early Education) are home visitor programs providing:

  • Home Visitors
  • Registered Nurse
  • Family Counselor
  • Family Activity Bus

Including a family program that brings together adult/parents and their children providing:

  • Adult Literacy
  • Parenting Education
  • Interactive Literacy Activities (Parent & Child)
  • Early Childhood Education

Instructional Technology
provides:

  • Staff Development
  • Instructional Technology Modeling
  • Planning and Consulation
  • Supplemental Support

Migrant Education
Works with school personnel, local chambers of commerce and employers of seasonal and temporary farm and fishing workers to identify migrant families in the county providing:

  • Migrant education program for students
  • Assistance meeting basic needs
  • Interpretation services
  • Referral services

Projects REACH & TOUCH
Work to provide referrals to homeless families with school aged children along side the EscaRosa Coalition on the Homeless (ECOH):

  • Seek to keep children in school or help them enroll in school
  • Assist with School registration
  • Provide information about community resources and agencies

CASE/Pro Support
Members provide early learning centers and family child care homes:

  • Staff Development
  • Inclusion Support
  • Behavior Support

Liaison for Non Public Schools
Facilitates meaningful consulation with non public schools who have chosen to participate in Title I services monitoring:

  • Staff Development
  • Parent Involvement
  • Appropiate use of funds
  • Academic support to eligible students

Supplemental Educational Services
Tutorial services which are mandated by federal No Child Left Behind regulations provided by private entities at no cost to families who meet free and reduced price meal eligibility criteria. Services provided are:

  • Contract for services with state approved providers
  • Inform eligible families
  • Coordinate the enrollment process
  • Train district and school level staff
  • Monitor contract compliance and academic programs

Pre-Kindergarten
Coordinates the district's Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten program providing:

  • Screening
  • Staff Development
  • Materials

Family Resource Centers
At the Henry McMillan Center and Sid Nelson provide:

  • Staff Development
  • Parent Involvement Programs
  • Books, games and materials for checkout
  • Computers for family use

Continuous Improvement Model
An 8 Step Instructional Process where students can achieve academic success each year they are in school:

  • Disaggregate test data
  • Develop an instructional timeline
  • Deliver the instructional focus
  • Administer frequent assessments
  • Use tutorials to re-teach non-mastered skills
  • Provide enrichment activities for mastery students
  • Reinforce learning through maintenance
  • Monitor Progress
