Instructional Focus

The instructional focus time is where the actual teaching and learning take place and is the most critical part of the instructional process. Teachers create lessons, actively model thinking processes, and engage students in classroom activities. Resources as internet web sites and power point presentations are appropriate to use for focus lessons.

Lessons should be created based on the needs of the students. It is important for teachers in a grade level or subject area team to meet weekly to discuss lessons, assessment data, and specific students.

Benefits of the Instructional focus:

  • Reinforces the instructional timeline
  • Addresses priority needs
  • Promotes high quality of instruction
  • Provides a clear and concise focus based on the needs of the students
