Liaison to Non-Public Schools

Under Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), local educational agencies (LEAs) are required to provide equitable services for eligible non-public school students from low-income families who reside in the participating school attendance areas.

Through meaningful consultation, services are designed to identify and meet the educational needs of the students who are most at risk of failing to meet academic achievement standards in reading and math, and to supplement the educational services provided by the non-public schools. Title I Liaison Services ensure that professional staff development activities are provided to Title I teachers, and that parent involvement programs and/or activities are implemented according to the predetermined needs identified by non public school stakeholders.
